Yesterday we didn’t see any improvements in Jesse. He was still not really moving much, and we haven’t seen him eat one time since we have been home, and there is no telling when the last time it was that he ate, since we were out of town. We decided it would be a good idea for him to go back to the vet, so I called to see if we could bring him in and Ric took him back to the vet yesterday afternoon. They shaved his neck (awww) and took some blood. Ric had to drive the blood to the animal hospital a few cities over (Collinsville) for them to do some tests on it. We got a call around 5:40 last night letting us know that they had the results from the blood test back. Jesse was diagnosed with Toxoplasmosis. He was given a pill, that we basically have to force-feed him.
We’ll start with the bad. . .
Jesse could theoretically die from this disease. But, we are holding out hope. Prayers and thoughts are definitely requested for this little guy!! Yes, he looks horrible, but I think that if he was THAT bad, the vet would have suggested that we put him down right away.
The good. . .
He could pull through and, like I said, we are holding out hope. He is holding his head up and he is still responsive when you call his name. A few times last night we picked him up and when we put him down he was able to walk. You can just tell that he is very very weak. Also, this disease is kind of like chicken pox for humans. Once you get it once, you will never have to go through it again. Which, would be good for Jesse. HOPEFULLY when/if he does pull through this, he will never have to go through it again.
