Prayers For Jesse

Yesterday we didn’t see any improvements in Jesse. He was still not really moving much, and we haven’t seen him eat one time since we have been home, and there is no telling when the last time it was that he ate, since we were out of town. We decided it would be a good idea for him to go back to the vet, so I called to see if we could bring him in and Ric took him back to the vet yesterday afternoon. They shaved his neck (awww) and took some blood. Ric had to drive the blood to the animal hospital a few cities over (Collinsville) for them to do some tests on it. We got a call around 5:40 last night letting us know that they had the results from the blood test back. Jesse was diagnosed with Toxoplasmosis. He was given a pill, that we basically have to force-feed him.

We’ll start with the bad. . .
Jesse could theoretically die from this disease. But, we are holding out hope. Prayers and thoughts are definitely requested for this little guy!! Yes, he looks horrible, but I think that if he was THAT bad, the vet would have suggested that we put him down right away.

The good. . .
He could pull through and, like I said, we are holding out hope. He is holding his head up and he is still responsive when you call his name. A few times last night we picked him up and when we put him down he was able to walk. You can just tell that he is very very weak. Also, this disease is kind of like chicken pox for humans. Once you get it once, you will never have to go through it again. Which, would be good for Jesse. HOPEFULLY when/if he does pull through this, he will never have to go through it again.

Please say a little prayer for the little guy!!!!

PHEW!

It’s been a while! So much to catch up on, so many pictures to add – so LITTLE time to do it!!!!

We left for Virginia on December 20th. The night before I realized that my Canon backpack with ALL of my camera equipment was in the back of my car, which was at the dealer because of Mom’s “oopsie”. At 11:30 p.m. (we had to be up at 4:30 a.m. to make it to the airport the next day), Ric drove ALL the way to Highland where the car was, only to get there to realize they lock the cars up in a “cage”, so he couldn’t get to it, so he drove ALL the way back home. It is a 45 minute drive each way. Needless to say, we both didn’t get much sleep the night before we left. So. . .I made the trip to VA/D.C. withOUT the camera(s) and camera equipment. **GASP** It was HARD to do!!!!

While we were there, we had Christmas with Ric’s family and spent a lot of time with them. Ric and I didn’t do much “touring” D.C. this year. 1) I didn’t have my camera and I was a little bitter about that fact, because I was SO ready for some awesome D.C. pictures! 2) The day we did got down to D.C. it was about 30 degrees. (Nope, we couldn’t pick the day to go down there when it was almost SEVENTY. . .we had to pick the COLDEST day of the year!) ha We went to the Arlington Cemetary and toured around there, and then went to watch the changing of the Guards. It was a very moving experience! After that we made our way to see the National Tree, the small trees for each state, the White House and to have our Downtown D.C. hotdog. Ric enjoys telling the story about how I was SOOOO hungry because we hadn’t eaten all day that I had that hotdog DEVOURED by the time he had it paid for. ha

More stories and pictures to come later. . .

We got back from Virginia/D.C. yesterday. We had a great time while we were there.

The first evening we were there, Ric’s brother announced that he proposed to his girlfriend the night before. We’re sooooo excited to welcome Erica into the family (even though she has basically been a part of the family for many years already). 🙂
CONGRATULATIONS TIMMY & ERICA!!! =D

My Dad picked us up from the airport and we went straight to Mom and Dad’s for Christmas.

More stories and pictures from that later also. . .

When we got back to our apartment last night (at midnight), we walked in and Katie, who was there watching the cats, was getting ready to leave. I looked over on the recliner and there sat Jesse. I was wondering why the little guy wasn’t at the door waiting for me to come in (as he always is). He looked pitiful!!!! I’m talking – near death pitiful. I grabbed him and held him and the minute Katie walked out of the house, I lost it!!! Ric was carrying in the luggaged and stuff (I was supposed to be going to bed since I had to work today and he didn’t), and he looked at Jesse and could tell without me even saying anything. We weighed him last night. He has lost 9 pounds in the past two days. Katie said that she had no idea what was going on, as he was fine a few days before that, but the past few days he had just been moping around the house. We tried to get some sleep last night, but we kept waking up to check on him. This morning, first thing, we called the vet and got him an appointment at 9:15. Ric took him while I went to work. The vet said that he was SEVERELY dehydrated. They had to put an IV in him and give him fluids. More than just some fluids, a LOT of fluids. They took blood also so that they could do some blood tests. We won’t know anything until tomorrow probably. The vet said for him to get fluids in him. Also to “let him eat anything and everything that he wants.” Ric went straight to Arby’s to get the little guy some roast beef. Every time we go there and come home with it, the boys are BEGGING for some, so Ric knew that he would love it. I have been teary and sad all day, because he is my BABY!! Say a prayer for the poor little guy!!!!!

Like I said, I will be back with more stories and pictures sometime.
Not sure when, because we still have out of town guests in the area and we are going to be on the go the next few days.

I hope everyone had a MERRY CHRISTMAS and wish everyone a HAPPY NEW YEAR as well! 🙂

Ode to Mom

I have been waiting to post this entry, but I can’t wait anymore.
The reason I have been waiting is because I took some pictures of Mom’s “oopsie”. . .but I have been so busy that I haven’t had the chance upload those pictures.

Anyway. We were at my parents’ house a week ago today (last Thursday), to hang out with my parents because my Mom had just come home from the Food Network Challenge taping and I wanted to hear about it and because they left on a cruise the next day and by the time they get back we will already be in VA. Anyway. . .Mom and I were in her van, pulling out of the driveway, to go pick up some pictures at Walgreens, and instead of backing out straight (like any normal person) she backed out at a diagonal and ran RIGHT into my car. She took the whole driver’s side mirror off (well, it is hanging by three wires) and put a few scratches on the side. It sounded 100% worse than it ended up being. Then we just laughed about it the rest of the night. When we were leaving, she said, “Take your wrecked car and go home.” ha

I haven’t been able to drive it much since then, because like I said, the mirror is just hanging there by a few wires. I had somewhere I needed to be on Saturday and couldn’t go because of it. Every time a gust of wind comes through or I hit a huge bump, it flies around and it just isn’t safe. I would hate to have the mirror fly off and fly into someone else’s windshield. That would NOT be pretty!

Needless to say, my car will be getting worked on while we’re in VA, because that isn’t the only issue it is having. The windshield wipers are all messed up (thanks to the freezing rain the other day) and when you turn on my air my headlights go off. (That makes me laugh, just hearing that, because it is just so ridiculous!)

The crazy thing is, EVERY other time we go somewhere (especially Highland) we drive Ric’s car. So I’m SO GLAD that we didn’t that time. Mainly because I really don’t care about my car. (Sorry Mr. Prix). 🙂

Anyway – I would also like to present to you the Food Network Challenge pictures. . .

You can see the progress as we go along.

We’re having an “watching party” at my Mom’s. I can’t wait. . .it is going to be fun! 🙂

SLACKER!!

That is what I am. I’m SUCH a slacker.

I have a post that is almost ready to post, but I’m still waiting to add a few more pictures, but they’re on the computer at home, so it will have to wait until tonight or something.

I also haven’t done Christmas Cards yet. I always send them out with a cute little letter from Ric and I about what we have been up to the whole year, and I haven’t even started that either. I guess I should work on that soon, cosidering we’re at December 16th, and we leave for VA on the 20th, so I only have a few days to work on them.

Speaking of which. . .like I said, we leave on the 20th. On the 19th we have our work Christmas party, which starts at 3:00. I’m hearing that not a lot of “work” gets done that whole day, so I’m going to have to get ALL my work accomplished by either the end of today or the end of Thursday. I am taking a 1/2 vacation day Wednesday because that is what I have left to take before 12/17 (my anniv. date here). I have 1/2 vacation day left, and 85 hours of personal time left. We have to take vacation days by the date, the personal time, we just get paid for. SWEEEEEEET, that is one whole paycheck I’m going to receive. How awesome is that?! (I hear they will split it up between the next two pay checks; which sucks, but I can’t complain.) Ahhhhh, I’m stressed. It would help if some clients got their stuff to me by the date I requested it!!!

Like I said, SLACKER!

. . .at Kohl’s this past Saturday.
OF COURSE I bought one. . .and yes, I sure did give it to him already, because I was just too excited to wait! 😀 (It was on St. Nick day, so I said it was his St. Nick present.)
It’s even dated 2008, so that he can remember what he dressed up as for Halloween that year! ha

I LOVE IT!!!

And the verdict is. . .

I talked to my Mom a little while ago.

They came in SECOND PLACE!!!

They got a lot of good feedback including, “We hope to see more of you two.” So that is awesome. (That is really all that mattered to her anyway. . .the air time and such.) They got a silver medal.
They were LESS THAN one point away from first place! (SOOOO close. . .darn it!)

She said that they got FORTY FIVE minutes of sleep last night. Had to be at the studio this morning at 5:30 a.m. They are EXHAUSTED (as they should be).
I’ll be back with more stories later, as soon as I get to hear some!

We’re all so proud of her!!!

(Still don’t have any pictures, hopefully she will share those with us SOON! Although she flies home tomorrow and leaves on a cruise on Friday. GEESH! Busy lady!)

GO MOM!!!!!!!!!!!!

At this VERY second. . .

As most of you who are reading this know, my Mom is the owner of Patty Cakes in Highland, IL.
As I’m typing this, she is in Denver, CO on the set of the Food Network filming her very first “cake challenge.”

She is with her friend/another cake guru, Ashley, who is the “main chef.” Mom is the “assistant” (this time – if there is a next time (hopefully), she will be the main chef).

She flew out to Denver Sunday. I talked to her yesterday and she says that she and all the cakes made it there safely, no tragedies, and all the cakes made it in ONE piece. Mission accomplished!!! Yes, you read that correctly, she had to fly to Denver WITH the cakes already baked. They were left in the pan and some hard material was placed over the open area and they were saran wrapped (REALLY tight if I know my Mom well). I’m sure those airline people at Lambert thought she was NUTS!!! (Yes, of course she had to pay a LOT extra for the luggage because of the weight limit. . HOPEFULLY she was even able to pack some clothes to wear! ha).

This challenge is titled – Disney Classics.
As of right now, we do not have an air date. It is expected to be sometime in April, 2009 when the Disney Classics DVD Set is released.

This is a dream for people in this business. It is definitely not “all about the money.” The air time and such will be enough for her. And, HOPEFULLY she will be asked to come back to do one as the “main chef.”

My family who lives in Colorado – my brother, Uncle John (Mom’s brother), Aunt Karen, Joseph and Cheyenne (cousins) – all trekked to Denver last night (they live in a small town in CO 4 hours away). They’re all there in tow with their “Go Mom/Sis/Aunt Pat” t-shirts on.

When I talked to her yesterday I got a little sad and teary-eyed, because I can’t be there, because I KNOW if I were to ever accomplish something THIS big, she would be there for me. But work did not allow me to travel there. 😦

I’ll share pictures and stories as soon as they are sent my way. . .come back later tonight to hear how it went! 🙂
