Well, life is going to be quite interesting for the next 4, maybe 8, years, that is for sure!
Ric went to bed last night a little upset. I’m not going to go into our views and why we definitely are NOT happy with the outcome. I’m tired of politics and ready to move on!!!
Anyway. . .on to happier things.
Halloween was this past Friday (duh). This past Saturday was our SIXTH annual Halloween Party/Scavenger Hunt. It was a success. . .again!! Oh what fun!
First we’ll start with Friday, Halloween Day.
Only three other people at the office dressed up this year.
Shanna was a vampire, Sara a nun, Donna a “biker lady” and I was an angel. (So, that is really how I am, I wasn’t really “in costume.” HA – At least I like to think so!)
This was not my full costume for the party, you can see the rest later.
Not too long after we arrived, my BFF and her family arrived. They’re the only way we would have been able to go Trick-or-Treating, as all my younger cousins are all grown up now (except for Joseph, who lives in CO). We were so excited that they were going to be there so we could have some little munchkins to go Trick-or-Treating with. They were SO cute.
Seneca was a little monkey. This costume DEFINITELY fits her! She doesn’t walk anywhere, she hops and jumps. . .she is definitely a little monkey!
Look at ALLLL that candy.
After each house, Sen would run over to my Mom and show her what she got at that house. My Mom says, “What are you going to do with ALLLLLL that candy??” Sen answers, “Put it in my tummmmmy.” It was too cute!
So we have to dump it all out to see everything that we got. So, candy all over G-ma’s floor. They were such good sharers. They shared with my Mom, Dad, G-ma, and another cousin that was there, and “Uncle” Yicky (Ric) and “Aunt” Flounder (me) got to leave with our small bag of candy that they gave us too.
We had a great time that evening. After TOTing we hung out and looked at all the candy and played with the kiddos and had a good ol’ time.
Saturday was when we were getting the house ready for the party. Got all decorated, got the shopping done for the food (we do mainly chips and dips, because most people are only worried about their alcohol). Aimee showed up with Peter’s “costume” and the rest of our costume, and then Aimee, Tonya and I finished getting ready. Then it was time for people to start showing up. I always say that the Scavenger Hunt is going to start at 8:00 SHARP. . .we aren’t going to wait for anyone. This year we HAD to wait for Paul, Mike and their crew though, because they haven’t missed a year yet! I think we started sometime around 8:35. Everyone had to be back at the house by 10:00. If you aren’t back on time, you’re disqualified. So, the scavenger hunt starts. My team this year was Aimee, Tonya, (BFFs), Leah (Sister), Kathy (co-woker) and I. We had a good team!!! 🙂 We started at Steak N Shake. We had to get a picture of one of the servers giving a teammate a kiss on the cheek. You got extra points if it was a male server kissing a male’s cheek, but we didn’t have any guys on our team. So, Aimee got the kiss.
We got away though. ha
Next up, we visited Long Acre Park because we needed a picture on a slide.
We started at the fence by the tennis court trying to do handstands. We needed at least three teammates doing a handstand at the same time. Well, apparently we didn’t have the gymnists on our team, because we just couldn’t do it!!! Oh well, time to find a slide.
The list said we had to have four teammates, but we didn’t read that until later in the game, so we didn’t get the pionts for this one. Oh well.
Well, this year was Peter’s last year at the Scavenger Hunt, since he moves to Germany in January. 😦 So, my idea was a picture of the ENTIRE team holding a “We’ll Miss You Peter” sign. For these kind of pictures, you have to either know how to work your self timer or you have to find a stranger that is willing to take silly pictures like this. Good thing I know how to work a timer.
We stopped in Old Navy for this one. A picture of three teammates with a mannequin. It didn’t say that it had to be one WITH a head. Luckily the only person staring at us like we were crazy was one of the employees!
As we ran inside St. Louis Bread Co. to get our coffee cup with an employee’s autograph and a takeout menu, we grabbed this photo. A teammate giving a stranger a high-five. This guy was ready and willing to help us out with any item on our list.
After this picture we were trying to get our picture of the ENTIRE group jumping and must be in mid-air. The timer just didn’t really work for this one. I think we tried at least 5 times before we gave up and found an employee gather shopping carts to help us out with this one. Still it took a few tries.
Then it was time to start heading back because time was coming to an end. So, we started heading back to the apartment. But we had to stop for this picture. A teammate sleeping under a bus stop bench. Aimee was such a good sport!
When everyone FINALLY returned back to the apartment, it was time to do the “A funny picture and an normal picture, taken by Trisha. The most creative picture receives extra points.”
Group 1: Shawn, Krystal, Katie, Robbie and Colleen
I can’t post their funny picture, and I was a little “offended” (not really, but GEEZ).
Mike was showing a little “too much skin” for my liking. We won’t even go there, just trust me on this one! ha
(It’s only because they have “Speed Racer” Robbie on their team, driving the “get away” car. HA)
After the scavenger hunt, it is just time for some random fun. Hang out, talk, dance, have a good time (and take pictures).
We’re Charlie’s Angels. But OUR version of Charlie’s Angels.
This was all my idea. . .I thought it kinda sounded silly at first, but EVERYONE loved it and thought it was so clever! I’m glad I thought of it, we had a great time with it.
Those awesome guns were dollar store guns that Aimee bought for us and painted white with glitter. We sure did have TON of glitter on that night, and now it is STILL all over the house. 🙂
Ric is pestering Colleen and Robbie, as he always does (nice pants, Ric!). They were just minding their own business and jumping on top of them. ha (He’s going to have to answer to HIS Mom when he does this some day and our beautiful love seat ends up broke. Bad Ricky!)
Colleen, what’s in your cup? (We always joke with her that she hasn’t been able to drink for over 5 years. Pregnant with Sav, nursing Sav, pregnant with Sen, nursing Sen, pregnant with B and now nursing B.) But she was being “a rebel” . . . she had ONE drink.
See what was in that cup (Look at Robbie’s bottle real close).
It’s BOONES FARM. That is the tradition when it comes to Scav. Hunt prizes. Everyone on the team gets their own bottle of BOONES. . .gotta keep up with tradition! 🙂
After a few people left, a group of us played Apples to Apples – which is such a FUN game!
I think it was about 2:00 a.m. when the last person left.
It was another successful year for us.
And I have said this for the past three years and I’ll say it again this year. . .”NEXT YEAR we’ll HOPEFULLY be in a house by the Halloween Party.” That would be LOVELY! It is kind of hard to cram ALL those people in our apartment. Thank goodness for our back balcony, and the nice weather this year!
