Last year was a busy year, especially September and October. This year will be no different! To say I was busy is an understatement. I’m still trying to catch up on 2010 editing. In 2010 I shot 9 weddings, I second shot 4 weddings and I had 33 misc. sessions that I shot. I already have 12 (possibly 13) weddings booked for 2011. I have to say, that EXCITES ME!!!!! Not to mention the 3 that I already have booked for 2012. The photography business is treating me well.

Ric is still searcing for a permanent teaching job. Seems as if teaching jobs are pretty scarce in the world today. He is still substitute teaching though. Last Summer he got a permanent Summer School teaching job, teaching Civics. He LOVED it! I enjoyed seeing a smile on his face each and every day, knowing that he had his own class, was able to do his own lesson plans, etc. My favorite story from his Summer of teaching is the fact that he had the principal’s daughter in his class. After the class was over, Ric received an amazing letter from said principal. The gist of it was telling him how his daughter hated Civics/History/Etc., UNTIL she took Ric’s class. That is all she would talk about every day and she really was getting into it, because of her awesome teacher! YES. . .these schools don’t know what they’re missing! Mr. Awesome Rocks!

Our favorite thing from 2010 is our 5th Anniversary Cruise. Our amazing parents went in halves to send us on a Caribbean Cruise. HELL YEAH!!! We left out of Port Canaveral (near Orlando). We went to Nassau, Bahamas; St. Thomas and St. Maarten. Two of these islands were islands that we visited on our Honeymoon Cruise (St. Thomas and St. Maarten). The trip was awesome. Our last day on our trip we spent at Disney World. We did an anniversary photo shoot with a great Orlando (now Ohio) photographer, who also got us in to Disney World free, because he is also a “cast member”. HELL YEAH x 2!!!

Last year I promised that I would try to “visit” more. . .I’m not making that promise this year. . . I know I’m not going to be able to keep it! (Sorry!) Visit later.. ..hopefully there will be something new to read!

The weekend before Halloween we had our annual Halloween Party/Scavenger Hunt. It was our smallest group this year, but we still had a TON of fun! There were so many other parties going on the same day, and others out of town, so we were missing some of our regulars. Oh well, still lots of fun had by all!



I was ready for a hair change, so on Halloween went to my friend Felicia at The Best Litt.le Hair Hou.se to have my hair cut. I went out on a limb for this one. I got it cut shorter than ever, it is slightly longer on one side than the other (on purpose), and I added some color to it. Not tooooo much, but just a little. Oh, and it isn’t any normal color either, it is PINK!!! For the first few days, every time I got a glimpse of my hair, especially the pink part, I would giggle and smile. haha It sucks that these bold colors fade so fast. . .it is pretty faded right now – kind of like a light pink, but I still LOVE it!






Halloween was a great time spent in Highland with my parents and Grandma, as well as my BFF Colleen and her family. This was the first year that I have actually ever Trick-or-Treated in my parents’ neighborhood, even though I have lived there since the age of 8. Every year we would go to Gma’s, even the past few years as adults, so we wouldn’t be in our own neighborhood. Since Gma moved into an apartment, we decided to just go to Mom and Dad’s, and my BFF and her family came there, and we Trick-or-Treated in their neighborhood. It has turned into a tradition for my BFF and her family come to Highland, have dinner with us and then we go Trick-or-Treating with them (they have 3 kiddos). It is always so fun. Watching them go from house to house, seeing their excited faces, etc. I just need to say that, they are the most caring and loving children. They are always more worried about getting every one else’s favorite candy before even getting something for themselves. Sav knew that my Mom’s favorite was Banana Laffy Taffy, so she kept her eye open for that, and luckly at the 2nd or 3rd house she got one and was SOOO excited and couldn’t wait to give it to my Mom. It was the sweetest thing ever! After we get back to the house, they dump their stuff out, see all the candy they got and then pass it out to everyone, including my parents, Gma, Ric and I, etc. They are SUCH caring children!!! I <3 them!



Friday morning we woke up to a call from Ric's Mom, letting us know that Ric's Grandfather passed away. He had found out a few months ago that he had lung cancer. RIP Papa!! Ric's Grandmother isn't doing well either, so please take a minute to say a little prayer for her! She is such a SWEET lady!!



In November Ric and I went to Graffton and walked on the trails and took some pictures. We had a great time, but because of fiddling around that afternoon, we got there kind of late, and didn’t have much time to walk the trails, because of it getting dark earlier. It was such a GORGEOUS day though! For our first anniversary Ric had made reservations there for us to go horseback riding, and then two years ago we went there to walk the trails with some friends of ours. I love going there, the view is absolutely gorgeous!! The drive there is kind of long (about an hour), but the view during the drive is definitely worth it!



For August and September Ric volunteer assistant coached a PeeWee Football team (for Mascou.tah). I can hardly explain the feeling I get when I see his smiling face while he is talking about all his kids, his excitement and happiness when he comes home from practices and games, etc. He just LOVES doing this so much, and loves his kids so much!! I was only able to make it to one game that season, because of all the sessions/weddings I had, and unfortunately was their last game. It wasn’t a very good game to go to, because the opposing team was playing “dirty”, but it was still great to see him out there with “his kids” and the way he interacts with them. He is going to be such a great teacher (and Daddy some day)!!! It is obvious, considering the nickname his classes that he subs for has given him. . .”Mr. Awesome”. (He is pretty awesome!!)



On November 12th Ric and I celebrated our 4th Anniversary. We spent it low key by having dinner with my parents and dessert at no other than, COLDSTONE! (My favorite!)



December came and went, and man did it fly by!!! This year I stayed in IL for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and Ric went to Viriginia on the 20th. I flew out to VA on the 26th, and spent time with him and his family. On Dec. 30th we took a bus to New York so that we could ring in the new year in Times Square. We were home on January 4th and now life is slowly, but surely, going back to normal.




One of these days, I will come back and write a story about our trip to New York and being in Times Square for New Years. It was AWESOME!

It seems as though my whole FAVORITE season of Fall has been swept away with things to do. Going here, going there, going everywhere. I’m missing out on the great season. But, in an attempt to be more positive in life, thanks to my Sister-in-Law who put a whole new light on things, “Thank you for reminding me that I’m actually doing something I love!” (Most of the time. . .when it ISN’T M-F 9-5.)

I can’t wait until the day that I don’t have to have this full-time job. I have said that for a few years now. I’m finally starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel. Though, I do get frustrated on a daily basis. WHY can’t I just quit my job and do this full-time? WHY can’t I get my name out there more? WHY are there people that started AFTER me that are getting more clients than me (or so it seems)? WHY are there people who refer other people to certain people and not me? WHY are there people out there in the same field as me who started around the same time as me (or others in general), who just don’t feel like helping out. WHY when I ask their advice, do they pretend like they are better than someone? WHY are there so many darn photographers in the area I’m in? WHY did I pick a profession that is SO hard to get into (so it seems sometimes)? WHY can’t some lovely school hire my Husband, who SO BADLY wants to be teaching? WHY are there teachers out there who lie and cheat the system, yet they still get to teach, when there are people (like my Husband) who would be SO good at teaching? (Tenure is an evil thing sometimes.) GEESH. There are more whys, but we’ll stop there! Remember, I’m TRYING to be more positive!

Anyway. . .
This past weekend Ric and I went to VA to visit his Parents, two of his Siblings, and his Grandparents. We had a great time hanging out with them. The first day we spent most of the day with his Grandmother, who is in a rehab center after hip surgery.

Saturday after going to one of Amanda’s Weight Watchers meetings (what an AWESOME leader she is), Amanda, Ric and I went to King’s Dominion. We had a great time, and a LOT of laughs.

On Sunday, Mom S., Timmy, Amanda, Ric and I went to the Renaissance Festival in Maryland. It was so much fun, and we had a great time!

On Monday we went to say goodbye to Ric’s Gma and headed home. We got home later in the evening.

If I ever get a few minutes, I will come back and make an entry dedicated to our trip, including pictures, but who knows how long that will be.

Now I feel SOOOO behind. I have three weddings, one maternity and one family shoot to edit. I have another wedding this coming Saturday and three family shoots this coming Sunday. AHHH. . .breathe!!!!

They introduced the cake and Mom. I had been on the phone with Dad, so that he could hear all the commotion, since he wasn’t able to be there. More screaming and clapping for Mom. Then we had to do to “Take 2, 3 & 4”. (I’m not sure why they had to record it so many times. Haha) This is the part that we are missing on our home video that Ric had recorded at the event, as well as the video that I took on my camera, which is also missing. It is a mystery. . .I don’t get how they could just be GONE. Oh well, we have pictures, and the memories in our head. What an AMAZING experience! Nothing quite like it.

After they introduced it, the crowd got to eat some cake. (Not the actual cake that they built, but just some sheet cakes that they were serving.) Then Mom cut her cake, while the camera crew was on her again. After all that excitement was over, the rest of the group had to wheel Uncle Sam to the dumpster and Mom had to go straight back to the hotel with the camera crew for some MORE interviews. She said that she has never talked so much about herself in her whole life! Ha Then we toured the Library, saw some amazing views of Simi Valley and headed back to the hotel to meet up with Mom. Then we all went to do some shopping in Glendale, as well as dinner at Cheesecake Factory. We were all pretty much Zombies by then. The team was tired from all the work that they had done that weekend, and Ric and I were tired from all the activities that we had done that weekend! Back to the hotel to pack up (:() and then more hanging out and chatting for our last night together.

The next morning Ric transported the team (except Mom) to the airport and then came back. Then we all got up and got ready. This is what our room looked like from all the trash and stuff that we left for the cleaning lady (sorry!)!! haha

This really was an experience of a lifetime!! Even if Mom does get called back (there is word on the street that this is a possibility), it just won’t be the same!! The awesome people that we met, the experience itself, the event afterwards, etc.

I have made lifelong friends from this experience as well. Steven and Ruth of course, but mainly Eric and Patty (Eric’s wife, who I met when they were here for the practice run a few weekends before the show). I talk to them on-line all the time, it is great getting to know them better, even if it isn’t in person. And, I’m trying SOOOO hard to get them to move back to the good ol’ State of Illinois!

DEFINITELY an experience of a lifetime!!!

Ric’s trip started off on June 28th, Trisha’s started on June 30th.
On June 27th, Ric went to Highland to load up Mom’s van and then spent the night at Mom and Dad’s. Sunday morning he was on the road headed to CA. I talked to Ric a few times while he was on the road. He was definitely making good time. He made it to CA by Monday evening. My trip started bright and early on Tuesday morning. I had to be at the airport by 4:30 a.m. Our good friend Katie took me there. Hopped on the plane and was on my way. We had to make a pit stop in Atlanta. (Man, I hate that airport!) I was there for over 4 hours, plane was delayed a few times. Finally made it to CA around 2:30 p.m. Went to baggage claim to meet up with Ruth and Eric, while we waited for Mom to get there. While waiting at the airport for Mom we had only one celebrity sighting. It was Neal McDonough from Desperate Housewives. Ruth grabbed her camera to take a picture, zoomed in (we weren’t too close) and took the picture. The flash flashed really bright, and while she was checking out the picture that she got, he looked over to us and just smiled and waved. He was so cute there hanging out at baggage claim with his wife and adorable kids.

Mom finally arrived around 5:00 p.m.

So yes, I spent more than 12 hours in the airport that day. NOT a fun day. All the while, Ric was enjoying the day at Venice Beach. He stopped at the airport to pick up some of our luggage, because all four of us (Mom, Ruth, Eric and I) weren’t going to fit in the rental car with all of our luggage. Ric went back to the hotel to unload some things and Mom, Ruth, Eric and I went to get the rental car, and then head to the hotel. TLC put Mom and one of her assistants (two rooms) up in The Hilton. It was so pretty (even if they didn’t have free WIFI). When checking in we requested joining rooms, which we got. So the boys (Eric, Ric and Steven (who wasn’t there yet)) in one room and the girls (Mom, Ruth and I) in the other. Yes, that DID make for a FUN weekend. I have never laughed so much in my life! Haha

After unloading luggage, checking on the cold stuff in the cooler downstairs, etc., Ruth, Eric, Mom, Ric and I headed to dinner. We ate at a great restaurant just a few blocks down from the hotel. (We were in Glendale, CA at this point.) Dinner was great (can’t remember the name of the restaurant) and then it was time to head back to the room. That night Mom had to make some sugar veil in the room. It was quite interesting “cooking” in a hotel room, with a “travel stove”. We stayed up probably a little too late laughing and having a good time.

The next day Ric and I got up and did some touristy stuff (downtown Hollywood/LA), etc. Ric and I then had to head back to the room to pack up the van to get all the cake stuff to the studio.

Then drove to the studio, and unpacked the van again.

(Lots of packing and unpacking throughout that weekend.) It was pretty neat getting to be in the studio. Seeing the “removable wall” and stuff like that. Mom and her team were in the blue kitchen. (GO BLUE!)

We hung out a little while with the team while they got stuff organized and such.

Then we left the team to finish up, while Ric and I finished our touristy stuff. While we were in Downtown LA we bought a map of the stars’ houses. We could have taken a guided tour of these houses and such, but it was so much more fun and laid back doing it on our own. We saw all kinds of celebrity gates. Haha (The addresses lead us to a lot of gates, rather than houses, because of celebrities gating up their house.) It was when we were checking out Luci and Desi’s old house that we came upon the house that Michael Jackson had just passed away in just one week prior to us being there. It was interesting. Memories, florals, people, etc., everywhere! After our tour (it started getting dark) we enjoyed dinner at Mel’s Drive-In and then headed back to the hotel to see how Team Blue was doing. Another late night spent talking and laughing.

The next day the blue team had to leave pretty early to do studio things. Ric and I decide that this day we would go to DISNEYLAND. AWESOME time! We were back REALLY late that night! The team snoozing by the time we got back from Disneyland.

The next day the blue team had to leave SUPER early to get to the studio to start filming. That day Ric and I went to Universal Studios. We had a great time there. Had dinner at Subway at the City Walk, and then headed back to the hotel. No one was there when we got back, so we got ready for bed. I fell asleep. It was only a few minutes later that the blue team called to let us know that they were ready to pack up the van and would like some help. Mom wasn’t allowed to tell if she won or not, but it was at that moment that I found out that THEY WON!!! (I was the first one. . .well, Ric was, because he was on the phone with Mom, since I had fallen asleep.) What an awesome feeling. I really couldn’t wait to get to the studio then. When we got there, the losing teams were destroying their cakes. So, no pictures of their cakes. Mom had to go back to the hotel with the recording team to do some interviews, while the rest of the blue team, Ric and I helped clean up the blue kitchen. Of course, I made my way around the studio to find the WINNING cake to take pictures of it.

Yes, I am still alive. haha

I was being lectured about updating my photography blog, so I did that, but failed to come back here to update this blog. I must warn you, this entry is probably going to be a little mumble-jumble, may not flow well, and will be pretty random. haha

So much going on right now. Weekends are gone, weekdays are pretty much gone also.

I have to admit that I’m pretty proud of myself, as well as Ric, with how well we are doing with the gym membership thing. Ric’s parents got us a Gold’s Gym membership for Christmas. I don’t think one week has gone by that we haven’t been there AT LEAST two days a week, this whole year. Most weeks, even three days a week. Ric even made it there a few times while he was in VA for three weeks. Yes, I must admit that, in the beginning I was doing SO well going at least 4-5 days a week, but right now, life has changed that. I try SO hard to at least go 3 times a week though.. ..that makes me happy enough! I even mentioned to Ric just last night, “Do you think your parents will get us gym memberships again this Christmas, since we have done so well with using it this year?” Gosh, I hope so!! It really isn’t in our budget, and knowing that we have that membership, MAKES me want to go. Right now my favorite class is Body Attack, which is on Wednesday evenings.

Man, I LOVE this class! We even have plans to go to dinner this Wednesday with a friend and her Mom, who is here from out of town, and I’m dreading having to miss it. Even trying to make the time later so that I can meet up with them after class, even if I am stinky and sweaty! haha LOVE it. . .love the feelings it gives me. I also love my Tuesday night class, Body Pump. Thursday nights is Body Step, which I have a love/hate relationship with. If I go on a Monday or Friday (going on Friday is a rare occasion), I don’t do a class, I do either weights or eliptical in the “theatre room”. GO ME!!

So, the weekdays pretty much go like this.
Wake up, work, home for lunch, back to work, to the gym (classes start at 5:30, so have to drive fast to make it there, change and get to class on time), and then home for dinner and then back on the computer for some more work-time (photo editing).

September and October were/are pretty busy for me also, when it comes to the weekends. First weekend in Sept. I had a wedding, second weekend in Sept. I second shot a wedding, third weekend in Sept. I had a wedding on Friday and second shot a wedding on Saturday (busy weekend), and this coming weekend I have a wedding. Weddings, weddings, weddings. I LOVE it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

October: First weekend I’m second shooting a wedding, second weekend Ric and I are making a trip to VA. (WOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO – I can’t wait! I have never been there when it wasn’t FREEZING and snowing. Not sure what all we are going to do while we are there, but I know it will be a great time. One of the planned events is a house warming party for Ric’s Sister, which I know will be a ton of fun!) Third weekend I have a wedding and the fourth weekend is our annual Halloween Party/Scavenger Hunt. (Save the Date – it is a TON of fun!) Then, of course, the last weekend is Halloween.

Add in there other miscellaneous photo shoots on Sundays, and I’m busy busy busy! It is GREAT. . .I love staying busy! (Can’t wait for that “vacation” to VA though. . .I’m going to need it!)

I know that I never returned to blog about our trip to LA. I just have had NO time. I can talk about it now, so that is good! The main reason that we went out there was because my Mom was asked to come out there to shoot an episode of The Ultimate Cake Off. WOW, what an experience. I am going to have to make time to come back and give this experience its own entry. . .that would only be fair. I can tell you this, Mom’s show aired on September 14th, and SHE WON. $10,000.00. How awesome is that?!

Other than that, not much else going on. I’m going to be “well into my thirties” in less than a week. (31 on the 28th.)

Also my BFF has spent the last week in the hospital. She was admitted for a really high fever. She has Lupus, so it has something to do with that. She is HOPING to be discharged TODAY! My hopes for her discharge also. . .as I know that she has to be tired of being there (it has been exactly a week). Please say your prayers for Tonyjo (Tonya).

Reception
We got to the reception and I remember the one thing that I couldn’t wait to see was my wedding cake. It was a surprise from Mom. WOW, did she go above and beyond!!!

We also had a video that was shown – everyone sat and watched and laughed/cried and had a great time! It was our love story. Honeymoon
For our honeymoon we went on a Carnival cruise to the Caribbean. We stopped at San Juan, Puerto Rico, St. Thomas and St. Maarten. (Ironically I wore my St. Maarten shirt just today, actually.)

Our reception was over pretty late on 11/12. Then we stopped by an after-party at one of the groomsman’s hotel rooms. After that we headed to our hotel room to try to get a few hours of sleep. Luckily, our reception was in the same hotel that we stayed in that night. The next morning we had to get up BRIGHT and early. 4:00 a.m. came WAY too fast! Then we were in Ric’s parents’ rental car and were on our way to the airport.

Now, the honeymoon was a total surprise for me. Ric did all the paying and planning, so I had NO idea where we were going. He wouldn’t even tell people the night of the wedding, just so people wouldn’t spoil it for me. We were about 10 minutes into our drive to the airport when Ric asks me if I wanted to know where we were going. All I knew is that it was going to be “tropical”, just so I knew how to pack. I was anxious, so OF COURSE I was ready for him to tell me! SO he tells me that we’re flying into Miami and hopping on a cruise ship to head to the Caribbean. HEAVEN!

Then we do just that; we get to the airport, fly to Miami, hop on the cruise ship and we’re ready to go.

One clear memory I have is calling my parents to tell them that I FINALLY know where I was going (they knew, but kept it a secret). This is when my Mom tells me that when I brought my dress to their hotel room early that morning, I also left my make-up bag with it. WHAT. . .I’m on my honeymoon and I don’t have my make-up?! No really, that was not really my reaction. It was more like, “OH well!” I’m not a big make-up person, so it really didn’t bother me. Once we were out in the ocean and the “shops” on the ship were able to open up, I just bought a few things, and then bought some at the Walgreens in San Juan. (Yes, there was a Walgreens, and we stopped into it, in San Juan. . .on our honeymoon. ha)

While in San Juan we just did a short shore excursion. We really weren’t there long and by the time we got there, it was dark anyway. More or less we just toured the area close to where the ship stopped. Then we walked around a little and ended up skipping dinner on the ship for dinner at a “hole-in-the-wall” burger joint in San Juan. It was tasty. Then it was back on the ship.

The next morning we woke up in St. Thomas. It was GORGEOUS. We started the morning off with a tour of the island as our shore excursion. After that shore excursion it was time for another one in St. Thomas. We went on a mini-boat tour to one of the small islands near St. Thomas. It was TONS of fun!!! It was about 12 mini-boats, two person per boat (so just Ric and I), that followed each other to the island. Ric was driving, I was passenger. When we got to the island, the tour guide asked how we were doing. I let him know that I was fine, but that I didn’t think that we hit enough waves on the way out there. He said, “Are you serious?! Usually the women are all crabbing because their backs hurt or something from hitting too many waves.” Heck, not me. I was enjoying hitting all the waves! We do our snorkeling and then it is time to get back so that we can get back to the ship to board. On the way back one of the other tour guides drives past us and waves us on to follow him. So we do just that, and he hits every wave that he can on the way back. It was SOOO much fun!

The next day was St. Thomas. We did another snorkeling tour on this trip, which was TONS of fun. Ric even turned Rastafarian on me. haha

On one of the formal nights, the professional photographers that they have on the boat took this photo. It is one of my favorite photos of us!

(If you couldn’t tell, I was getting a little tired towards the end of this post – which is why the end went kind of fast. haha)
